Making an Organisation Grant Application

Business Meeting at a Cafe

Who Can Apply

We welcome applications from local charitable, voluntary and community organisations working to help and support people living within our area of benefit.

To check if your organisation qualifies please see our map and fill the Pre-application questionnaire.

If your organisation does not exclusively work with people from our area an application may still be considered but in these cases any grant awarded would be based on the proportion of people from our area who will benefit from the project being funded.

Generally we do not accept applications from public sector bodies or national organisations. Nor do we fund religious activities or general appeals.

What can be applied for?

Applications should be for one-off non-recurrent funding for specific projects or equipment. We do not accept applications for open-ended salaries, running/core costs or general charitable appeals.

Grants to organisations are normally in the range of £500 to £5,000. The Trustees do consider requests for larger amounts from organisations which they know well.

Current priorities

For 2026 to 2028 the trustees’ particular areas of interest include:

  • working with local community initiatives especially through local community and resource centres;

  • community transport;

  • musical activities, especially community and child-focused work;

  • performance and drama activities, for children and communities;

  • access to computers, especially for children from deprived backgrounds;

  • environmental improvements generally; also, woodlands and walks; planting initiatives; horticultural therapy, etc;

  • support for young people not in education, employment or training (NEET);

  • support for early years work and pre-school education;

  • projects supporting excluded children;

  • educational activities which benefit schools and pupils in need (application is open to creative providers of additional educational and child-centred activities but not the schools themselves):

Applications for projects in these areas are particularly welcome.
